In addition to the educational opportunities available through CCLPA, membership in our association provides the following benefits:

Capitol City Connection: Members receive our monthly bulletin which provides information on additional educational opportunities, notices from the court, articles of interest to the legal community, etc.

The Legal Secretary: Published quarterly by Legal Secretaries, Incorporated, this magazine provides articles by lawyers and legal support staff, as well as reports from our state officers and chairmen.

Employment Referral Service: CCLPA offers a free employment referral service where positions wanted and positions available are listed.

First US Community Credit Union: As a member, you and your family members are eligible to join First US Community Credit Union.

Insurance: A variety of individual insurance plans, including health, dental, disability, life, and major medical, are available through several providers.

Retirement Planning: Help with retirement planning is available through a variety of providers.

Blood Bank: CCLPA is a sponsor of a Donor Club which allows members and their families to "draw" against the Donor Club when needed.

Members also enjoy networking and educational opportunities through special programs of Legal Secretaries, Incorporated, as follows:

  • Legal Specialization Sections: Members of Specializations Sections can attend workshops at each quarterly conference at little or no cost and receive discounted registration fees for the Spring and Fall Regional Workshops held each year. Membership is available in the following areas: Civil Litigation, Transactional, Corporate/Business, Probate, Criminal and Law Office Administration. (A membership application is located under the tab "Membership" on our home page.)
  • California Certified Legal Secretary Program: CCLPA supports LSI's California Certified Legal Secretary (CCLS) program. This certification is given upon successfully passing an all-day exam covering Ability to Communicate Effectively, Legal Computations, Law Office Administration, Legal Terminology, California Legal Procedures, Ethics and Skills. CCLPA offers ongoing assistance to those interested in this program through study groups, special workshops and other material.
  • Professional Organizations: CCLPA works with other professional organizations, such as the Sacramento County Clerks Association, Professional Secretaries, Inc. and the Citizenship and Law-Related Education Center, to meet the goals of our organization.
  • Affiliations: As a member of the legal community, we work with other companies and organizations to improve the quality of life in Sacramento County.
